Sony in Talks for Battlefield Movie with McQuarrie and Jordan

October 4, 2026Carlos Mendoza1 мин

Sony is negotiating to acquire big-screen rights for Electronic Arts' Battlefield. Christopher McQuarrie is attached to write, direct, and produce. Michael B. Jordan is also set to produce.

Variety reports Sony declined to comment on the negotiations, which followed a bidding war among several studios.

Jordan, recently an Oscar winner, might also star in the film, though Variety notes this depends on various factors. Other producers include EA's Jesse Stern, Emerald Neon's Carter Swan, Vertigo's Roy Lee and Miri Yoon, and Outlier Society's Elizabeth Raposo.

The Battlefield series debuted in 2002. Its 18th main entry, Battlefield 6, released last year, becoming the franchise's and the year's best-selling first-person shooter. It reportedly sold more copies than Call of Duty, which is also getting a film adaptation directed by Peter Berg with a script by Taylor Sheridan for Paramount, slated for a June 30, 2028 release.

Battlefield recently introduced Rapid Royale, Redsec's take on Warzone's Resurgence. Resurgence uses smaller maps than the main mode, allowing for multiple respawns after death. This leads to a faster pace and more frequent combat.
