Hayden Panettiere, Star of "Heroes" and "Until Dawn," Passes Away at 36

Hayden Panettiere, the actress who gained widespread recognition for her role as the cheerleader in the popular superhero series "Heroes," has died at the age of 36.

Her passing was confirmed on Sunday evening, with no cause of death immediately disclosed. Her father, Skip Panettiere, issued a statement expressing his profound sorrow: "It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen."

Panettiere earned two Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal of a troubled country music star in the television series "Nashville," which saw nearly a dozen of its songs chart on Billboard. She also made appearances in the "Scream" franchise, featuring in "Scream 4" and "Scream 6."

However, she is perhaps most remembered for her role as Claire Bennett in the 2006-2010 superhero drama "Heroes." Her character was central to the show's narrative and its famous tagline: "Save the cheerleader, save the world."

Beyond her television and film work, Panettiere also made a significant impact in the gaming world. She starred alongside Rami Malek in the critically acclaimed interactive horror game "Until Dawn," contributing both her voice and motion-capture performance. Additionally, she lent her voice to the character Kairi in the widely popular "Kingdom Hearts" game series.

Earlier this year, Panettiere published a memoir titled "This is Me: A Reckoning," where she candidly discussed her experiences with early fame, postpartum depression, addiction, and her journey toward recovery. She has a daughter, born in 2014, with Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko; the child has been living with her father since 2018.
