Jamal Musiala Prioritizes World Cup Over Injury Concerns, Rebuffs Oliver Kahn's Advice
Following Bayern Munich's significant Bundesliga achievement on Saturday evening, Jamal Musiala directly addressed the counsel provided by former Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn regarding his recovery from injury and potential participation in the upcoming World Cup. Earlier this week, Kahn had advised Musiala, who recently returned from a serious injury sustained during last summer's Club World Cup, to take more time to fully recover.
Musiala, having only recently reintegrated into the team, was notably absent from Julian Nagelsmann's squad for the March international break. The young talent is facing increased pressure, especially after his 18-year-old teammate Lennart Karl delivered exceptional performances during Musiala's absence. Kahn's comments, though perhaps well-intentioned, drew considerable criticism in the German media towards the legendary former goalkeeper.
Kahn's Recommendation to Jamal Musiala
"I believe he should forgo going to the World Cup," Kahn had expressed to Sky. "If I sense that something is not right in my game, then I need to work on myself to be ready again. Jamal, like everyone else, must be at 100 percent if he wishes to play."
Musiala's Response to Kahn
"I am getting back into the action better," Musiala stated after scoring his fourth goal in 14 appearances since his return in late January, in a separate interview with Sky Germany. "Every minute where I can regain the feeling in my feet and legs is beneficial for me."
"I haven't read what he [Kahn] said," Musiala continued. "Regardless, I want to go to the World Cup."
