Germany's New Prodigy: Lennart Karl Hailed as 'Ribery-like' After Stellar Debut

Young German talent Lennart Karl has garnered significant acclaim following his debut for the senior German men’s national team. Shortly after turning 18, the Bayern Munich prodigy showcased his abilities, playing a total of 72 minutes across two March friendly matches as a substitute.

Although he didn't score, Karl left a strong impression in both games. German fans were particularly vocal in their support for Karl, especially after a less-than-stellar performance from former Bayern forward Leroy Sané, who typically occupies Karl’s preferred right-wing position in the initial match.

National Team Coach Julian Nagelsmann Praises Karl

German national team head coach Julian Nagelsmann expressed his satisfaction at the post-match press conference: “He gave his absolute best and showed incredible effort in both games. He made an excellent impression – confident yet humble. He possesses a natural talent for optimal positioning and effective movement within space.”

Nagelsmann continued, noting Karl’s progress: “He has advanced closer to the national team setup than he has at Bayern. He’s still at the very beginning of his journey. I observed that he didn’t require any warm-up time before either of his substitute appearances.”

He concluded by stating, “Among all the young players we've called up over time, he has left the most profound impression.”

Deniz Undav Compares Karl to Ribery

Adding to the chorus of praise, newly reinstated German national team striker Deniz Undav of Stuttgart remarked in the mixed zone, “Karl plays somewhat like [Franck] Ribery. He’s an exceptional player. He already plays with great intuition and confidence, bringing a fresh surge of energy.”

When asked what Karl might still be lacking, Undav lightheartedly responded, “I still need to help him relax a bit more off the pitch. But he is a top-tier player who, despite his immense quality for his age, remains humble.”
