Fisnik Asllani Transfer to RB Leipzig Imminent

Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani has reportedly chosen RB Leipzig over Barcelona, with a transfer expected to happen soon. The 23-year-old Kosovo international and Leipzig are reportedly close to agreeing on salary terms, with the club intending to activate the release clause in Asllani's Hoffenheim contract. This clause is estimated to be between €25 million and €29 million, which would place Asllani among Hoffenheim's top ten most expensive departures and Leipzig's most significant signings.

Further indication of Asllani's impending departure came when he was excluded from Hoffenheim's squad for their training camp in Seefeld, Austria, from August 2nd to August 9th. This absence allows the forward to finalize his future away from the main squad. Asllani had previously been left out of Hoffenheim's recent friendly matches amidst growing speculation of a move to Leipzig. Hoffenheim's sporting director, Andreas Schicker, had previously acknowledged discussions with clubs both domestically and internationally during the pre-season.

The transfer is rumored to potentially be finalized while Hoffenheim is in Austria. However, Leipzig is said to prefer offloading one of their current strikers before completing the acquisition of Asllani.

Leipzig is actively looking to strengthen their attacking options and find a forward to compete with Rômulo. Asllani is not the only attacker recently linked with a move to Leipzig; an advisor for Wolfsburg's Mohamed Amoura had claimed advanced negotiations were underway. However, Sky Germany later refuted this report, stating no imminent agreement or advanced discussions were in place. Asllani's reported decision now positions him as Leipzig's preferred attacking target. His versatility, capable of playing as a traditional center-forward, a supporting striker, or a winger, would offer tactical flexibility to the club.

Last season marked Asllani's strongest performance in the top flight, with 11 goals and 10 assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. His estimated market value has subsequently surged from €8 million to €35 million, meaning Leipzig could secure the forward for significantly less than his current valuation by invoking the release clause.

Asllani's potential departure would be part of a significant summer reshuffling at Hoffenheim. He would become the 18th player to leave the club this transfer window. This would bring Hoffenheim's total sales income close to €100 million, while the club has invested just over €50 million in six new signings.
