Substitute Farès Chaïbi skillfully bypassed his defenders before delivering a precise pass to Jonathan Burkardt just a few yards from the net. The German striker confidently converted, netting his 10th league goal of the campaign and putting his team ahead.

Their lead was swiftly doubled. Burkardt, already on the scoresheet, crossed towards Amaimouni-Echghouyabe. The Spaniard couldn't quite control the ball, which then fell to Kalimuendo, who made no mistake, clinically firing past Schwabe.

Moments later, the goals continued, but this time Köln struck back. Jakub Kamiński surged forward, cut in from the flank, and dribbled past two opponents before his deflected shot found the back of the net past Zetterer, halving the deficit.

With renewed vigor, Köln pressed for an equalizer and were unlucky not to find it when Ache set up El Mala, whose shot was superbly saved by Zetterer. Undeterred, Köln's resolve paid off in the 82nd minute when Wagner made a triple substitution. Within a mere 34 seconds, two of the fresh players combined to restore parity. Lund's deep cross to the far post found Marius Bülter, who then picked out an unmarked Alessio Castro-Montes in a prime scoring position, allowing the Belgian to tap in effortlessly.
