Bayer Leverkusen Considers Oliver Glasner and Fabian Hürzeler for Managerial Position

German publication Sport Bild reports that Bayer Leverkusen is evaluating Oliver Glasner, the departing Crystal Palace manager, as a potential successor. The Austrian coach is set to leave the South London club this summer and will be available on a free transfer. Die Werkself had previously considered Glasner five years ago but ultimately appointed Gerardo Seoane.

Despite Leverkusen's interest, Glasner reportedly favors remaining in the Premier League over a return to the Bundesliga. However, a factor potentially benefiting Leverkusen is the dwindling number of top-tier Premier League clubs currently seeking a new manager. For instance, Tottenham recently appointed Roberto De Zerbi, while other major clubs still have uncertain coaching futures, potentially influencing Glasner's options for a significant step up within the league.

Alternative Managerial Targets for Leverkusen:

Should the pursuit of Glasner prove unsuccessful, Die Werkself are also reportedly considering Fabian Hürzeler, the manager of Brighton. Hürzeler, previously at St. Pauli, is keen on leading a club competing in European competitions next season, a prospect Leverkusen cannot currently assure. Furthermore, Hürzeler's contract reportedly includes a release clause valued at €15 million.
