Swiss football club BSC Young Boys have confirmed they are engaged in discussions with French side Lille OSC regarding forward Alan Virginius (22). Virginius spent the most recent season on loan with the Swiss club, where he participated in 45 matches across various competitions, netting seven goals and providing four assists.
It remains uncertain whether Young Boys are seeking to arrange a further loan spell or a permanent transfer for the 22-year-old player. However, according to a report from L’Équipe, Young Boys possessed an option to convert his loan deal into a permanent move this summer.
Virginius had found it challenging to establish himself significantly during his tenure at Lille, having joined the northern French club from his training club FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in 2022. The attacker, versatile enough to play on either wing or as a central striker, was afforded only a season and a half of first-team opportunities before being sent on loan to Clermont Foot towards the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign.
