Paul Pogba, aged 32, was introduced as a new AS Monaco player on Thursday, but his first appearance for the team is not anticipated in the immediate future.
After nearly two years away from competitive football, there`s significant excitement to see Pogba return. However, fans will need to be patient. Pogba himself mentioned that facing his former club, Le Havre AC, on the first day of the Ligue 1 season in mid-August would be an “extra motivation.”
Providing a dose of realism after Pogba spoke, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro stated, “I can guarantee that he won’t be on the pitch against Le Havre. We are here to be realistic.” He added, “We expect a three-month process. High-level sport is a lot about science and it is not easy. Monaco is one of the most intense teams in Ligue 1 and play a style that requires him to be fit.”
Scuro also mentioned that “increasing the load” during training is planned for Pogba in the coming weeks. Based on this, it now appears improbable that the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder will feature for Monaco before the beginning of October.
