West Ham leading race to sign Saint-Étienne striker Lucas Stassin

Football News

A report from French newspaper L’Équipe indicates that West Ham United are currently at the forefront of clubs interested in signing AS Saint-Étienne`s 20-year-old striker, Lucas Stassin.

The young forward was highlighted as one of the few positive performers for Saint-Étienne during a difficult season, which saw them return straight to Ligue 2 after just one year back in the top flight following promotion via the playoffs. Despite his potential, Saint-Étienne is reportedly hesitant to sell either Stassin or Zuriko Davitashivili and is expected to demand a significant fee for their players.

However, Saint-Étienne`s reluctance has not diminished interest in Stassin. L`Équipe mentions that several French clubs, including Lille OSC, Paris FC, Stade Rennais, and Olympique de Marseille, have gathered information on the striker. Clubs from outside France, such as RB Leipzig, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Sporting Club, have also made inquiries.

West Ham is reported to be the most proactive club so far, having entered into discussions with Saint-Étienne regarding the financial terms of a potential transfer and having also spoken with the young Belgian player about his personal salary expectations.
