Reports on Thursday indicate Dusan Vlahovic is `prepared` to sit out the 2025-26 season to secure a free transfer away from Juventus the following summer.
Juventus is actively seeking to sell Vlahovic this summer. The Serbian striker is currently Serie A`s highest earner, and his salary is scheduled to rise to €12 million for the final year of his deal in 2025-26.
As Vlahovic enters the final year of his contract, this summer`s transfer window represents Juventus` last chance to receive a transfer fee for him. Otherwise, he will be free to negotiate with other clubs starting in January, barring an improbable contract extension.
Meanwhile, the Bianconeri are already targeting new forwards for the upcoming season, having secured a deal for free agent Jonathan David. Discussions are also reportedly underway for Victor Osimhen and Paris Saint-Germain`s Randal Kolo Muani.
Vlahovic, however, recently declined an approach from Jose Mourinho`s Fenerbahce and a lucrative €20 million offer from Al-Ahli.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, a meeting is expected soon between Vlahovic`s agent and Juventus General Manager Damien Comolli to seek a resolution.
The Italian publication states Vlahovic is `convinced` that a free transfer away from Juventus in the summer of 2026 is the best course of action for his career.
Thursday`s report adds that Vlahovic is `prepared to take the risk` of being sidelined by Juventus for the final year of his contract.
La Gazzetta suggests Vlahovic doubts Juventus would actually freeze him out, as they would still be obligated to pay his remaining €12 million salary.
La Gazzetta dello Sport notes that Juventus hopes this situation might resemble Federico Chiesa`s last summer, who agreed to a permanent transfer to Liverpool towards the end of the window with one year left on his deal, following his exclusion from the pre-season squad.
