USL Dunkerque Nears Deal for Coach Gonçalo Feio Following Castro’s Departure

USL Dunkerque has reportedly identified their preferred candidate to replace head coach Luís Castro, who recently departed for FC Nantes. Reports suggest Dunkerque is actively pursuing Gonçalo Feio for the role.

Feio is currently a free agent, having not agreed a new deal with Legia Warsaw. He previously had a successful season in Poland, guiding Legia to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa Conference League, where they faced eventual winners Chelsea (even securing a win at Stamford Bridge).

Sources indicate Feio is expected in northern France shortly to finalize and sign his contract with the Ligue 2 club.

Despite operating with one of the league`s smaller budgets, Dunkerque enjoyed a strong season, finishing 4th in Ligue 2 and narrowly missing promotion after being defeated in the playoffs by FC Metz. The club, known as `Les Maritimes`, will aim to achieve promotion to Ligue 1 for the first time in their history.
