Fluminense captain and former AC Milan defender Thiago Silva disclosed that he contacted Massimiliano Allegri for insights into Inter Milan before their Club World Cup match. Silva`s Fluminense side went on to defeat Inter 2-0 in the Round of 16 on Monday. He shared this information during a post-match interview.

Thiago Silva Consulted Allegri Before Inter Clash

“I`m passionate about football. This week, I called Allegri, a friend of mine, and I asked for some information about Inter,” the Brazilian centre-back stated. He added, “He spoke highly of this team and has great respect for them, as do I. I was able to pass on some of this information to the team, and I believe Allegri provided valuable tips.”

Silva also mentioned a possible future visit: “We didn`t talk about Milan [AC Milan specifically]. I told him I might visit him, Ibra [Zlatan Ibrahimović], and that great team in January.”

Commenting on the match itself, Silva remarked, “I`m pleased with our team`s performance. It`s not easy to play Inter this way; we knew it would be a tough game.”

Fluminense Needs Rest After Defeating Inter

Regarding the tactical approach and physical demands, he said, “I think we defended well. In possession, we weren`t able to play our usual game, and it was difficult to overcome their press. It wasn`t easy, especially in this heat.”

He concluded on the team`s current status: “We are very satisfied with qualifying, but now we need to rest because we play again in three or four days.”

In related news, Inter Milan face internal issues upon returning to Europe, particularly following captain Lautaro Martinez`s public criticism of Hakan Calhanoglu, suggesting he should leave if unwilling to fight for the club`s goals.

Thiago Silva played for AC Milan for three seasons (2009-2012), winning a Serie A title and an Italian Super Cup. Under Allegri, he made 79 appearances and scored four goals before moving to PSG in 2012 for €42 million.
