If you’ve played even a short segment of Resident Evil Requiem, you’ve undoubtedly encountered “The Girl.” This formidable Shadow Ghost clearly revels in tormenting Grace in the dark. (I, for one, found the experience far less enjoyable, often trying to evade her with a high-pitched squeal that, I’m told, resembled a kettle perpetually on the verge of boiling.)
As I try to shake off that past trauma, I can share some intriguing background information from Delanie Nicole Gill, the character’s voice actor. Apparently, to achieve “The Girl’s” distinctive voice, Gill consumed significant amounts of milk to thicken her saliva. This unconventional method was crucial for producing the precise “gurgling” and “clicking” noises required for the role.
“We had two four-hour sessions, and I went through about two gallon-sized jugs of milk to thicken up my spit,” Gill disclosed during a Resident Evil Requiem panel at MegaCon Orlando 2026.
“I had to lay a towel on my lap because of how my mouth was positioned; my bottom lip was down, and it was just dripping onto my lap.”
While writing this piece, I re-watched a clip of “The Girl” chasing Grace in Requiem. Now, knowing the extent of thick, milky saliva involved in crafting such an unnerving character, I truly cannot unhear it. It makes me wonder if Gill will ever view milk the same way again. I doubt I will…
