According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, RC Strasbourg Alsace has reached an agreement to secure the transfer of 21-year-old midfielder Pape Demba Diop from Zulte Waregem, a club in the Belgian First Division B.
Diop has had a notable season for Zulte Waregem, featuring in 31 matches across all competitions. During this period, he contributed significantly with six goals and six assists. This marks a considerable improvement from his previous campaign (his debut season in Europe after joining from Senegalese side Diambars FC in 2022), where he made just 12 appearances and recorded one goal and one assist.
Under the ownership of BlueCo, Strasbourg`s strategy has involved actively seeking out and signing promising young talents identified with high potential for development. It appears Diop fits this mold as the team seeks to strengthen its midfield options ahead of the next season.
The Ligue 1 club anticipates a busy summer concerning midfield reinforcements. This need is particularly highlighted by the return of Andrey Santos to his parent club Chelsea FC and the ongoing speculation surrounding the potential departure of Habib Diarra.
