Strasbourg Reach Agreement for Coulibaly Transfer from Dortmund

Football News

Reports indicate that Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the direct transfer of defender Soumaïla Coulibaly (21). The French player is expected to sign a five-year contract directly with Strasbourg, bypassing a potential loan spell through their affiliated club, Chelsea.

The transfer fee is reported to be €7.5m, an agreement reached between the two clubs last night. Coulibaly is scheduled to travel to Alsace soon to undergo a medical examination and formalize his five-year deal.

This move marks Coulibaly`s return to French football, having previously played in the youth ranks of FC Montfermeil and Paris Saint-Germain before joining Borussia Dortmund in Germany in 2021. The young centre-back played 25 matches for Dortmund`s second team and made two senior appearances: one in the UEFA Champions League in November 2022 and a single league game in April 2023.

Last season, the defender spent time on loan at Stade Brestois. During this period, Brest enjoyed a notable UEFA Champions League campaign, reaching the round of 16 in their first-ever appearance in the competition. Coulibaly featured in 16 games across all competitions for Brest during his loan spell.
