Stade de Reims has confirmed the signing of veteran defender Nicolas Pallois, aged 37, on a free transfer. Pallois joins Reims after his contract with FC Nantes expired, ending an eight-year spell at the club. Nantes chose not to extend his deal as they undergo a significant squad restructuring under Luis Castro. The club from Nantes has already secured a replacement, signing Uros Radakovic, also a free agent.
Pallois has penned a one-year contract with Reims, managed by Karel Geraerts, with an option for an additional year. The experienced defender, who previously played for Bordeaux, will wear the number 5 shirt for Reims. Reims were recently relegated to Ligue 2 after losing to FC Metz in the promotion/relegation play-offs. However, the club could potentially return to Ligue 1 immediately, depending on the outcome of Lyon`s appeal against their administrative demotion.
