Spartak Moscow reach agreement to sign Marseille’s Azzedine Ounahi, but…

According to reports from L`Équipe, Spartak Moscow has successfully reached an agreement with Olympique de Marseille regarding the potential transfer of midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, aged 25.

The Moroccan international spent the previous season on loan at Panathinaikos in Greece, where he managed to revitalise his career after a challenging eighteen-month period at OM. During his loan spell, he made 37 appearances, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. Panathinaikos were reportedly interested in securing his services permanently, and Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion have also maintained a long-standing interest in the player.

However, it is the Russian club, Spartak Moscow, that has formalised their interest by agreeing terms with Marseille. The two clubs have reportedly settled on a transfer fee of €12 million. Ounahi is now in the process of considering the proposed move, which is understood to include a significant increase in his current salary.

Despite the agreement between the clubs and the proposed personal terms, Foot Mercato suggests that the former SCO Angers player is not particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of moving to a club in Russia.

It is also noted that, should the transfer ultimately be completed, SCO Angers would be due to receive a substantial 30% of the transfer fee as part of a pre-existing sell-on clause.
