According to a report from L`Équipe, OGC Nice midfielder Sofiane Diop, aged 25, has had surgery for a sports hernia and could be sidelined for up to two months.
The Moroccan international, who has previously struggled with injuries over the past two seasons, found form in the latter half of the recent campaign. He ended the season with a respectable tally of six goals and eight assists.
However, this surgery will significantly disrupt his preparations for the upcoming season. L`Équipe reports that the procedure for the sports hernia was approved by the club. Diop will miss the start of pre-season training, which has already begun for Les Aiglons, and is also in doubt for the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, with his expected recovery period being between six and eight weeks.
Nice is scheduled to play the first leg of their third-round Champions League qualifier on August 5th or 6th, with the second leg taking place a week later.
