The launch of Slay the Spire 2 proved to be so overwhelmingly successful that studio Mega Crit had to issue an apology for a previously made jest directed at the game Marathon. Co-founder and developer Casey Yano admitted that their congratulatory message to the Marathon team now appears “a bit meaner than it was intended,” as they had never anticipated Slay the Spire 2 would surpass Bungie’s new extraction shooter in concurrent Steam users.
