Ahead of Slay the Spire 2’s early access debut, a sense of apprehension lingered. Initial glimpses and gameplay snippets felt strikingly similar to its revered predecessor, leading me to question the necessity of a new installment. While acknowledging subtle changes, they didn’t appear substantial enough to justify a full sequel. A cynical thought crept in: had Mega Crit, the brilliant minds behind the original, exhausted their creative wellspring? My concerns, I am delighted to report, were entirely unfounded. I’ve rarely been so pleased to be proven wrong.
