AS Saint-Étienne has completed the permanent signing of 27-year-old forward Irvin Cardona.
Cardona initially joined Saint-Étienne on loan in January 2024 for the latter half of the 2023/24 season. His move came after his loan spell at Espanyol from parent club Augsburg was terminated early, allowing him to return to Les Verts.
During his loan period, Cardona scored five goals in 15 appearances in Ligue 1. Although his contributions weren`t enough to prevent the club`s relegation to Ligue 2, Saint-Étienne has now activated the buy option included in the loan agreement. The permanent transfer is reported to be worth €2.5 million, with Cardona signing a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028. The striker will now look to play a key role in helping Les Verts achieve promotion back to the top flight next season.
