Portuguese international Ruben Neves has expressed interest in making a move to Real Madrid during the current January transfer window.
Neves has been a key player for Al-Hilal since his arrival in 2023, following a £47 million transfer. Throughout his time at the club, he has made 112 appearances across all competitions, contributing significantly with 17 goals and 28 assists.
This season alone, Neves has been directly involved in 12 goals, playing a crucial role in Al-Hilal’s strong performance, which sees them holding a seven-point lead at the top of the Saudi Pro League table.
However, with his contract set to expire in June, reports suggest Neves is not inclined to renew his deal, fueling speculation about his future.
While the midfielder clearly desires a transfer to Real Madrid, the Spanish club’s board harbors doubts about pursuing a deal this month, according to Diario AS. Although some members of Madrid’s coaching staff believe there’s a need for a creative midfielder, the board is hesitant to pay a transfer fee for Neves in January when he could be available as a free agent in the summer.
In addition to Real Madrid, Manchester United has also been linked with the 28-year-old. The Red Devils are reportedly in search of new midfield talent, especially with the futures of both Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte at Old Trafford appearing uncertain.
