Inter Milan are reportedly considering Olympique de Marseille coach Roberto De Zerbi and Como boss Cesc Fabregas as potential successors to the departing Simone Inzaghi. Sources suggest that discussions regarding these candidates are set to commence, with other managers also reportedly under consideration.
Previously, it was widely believed that Roberto De Zerbi would remain at Marseille for the upcoming season. This followed a recent meeting with club owner Frank McCourt in the US, after which both parties reportedly agreed to continue their collaboration.
However, reports surfaced recently suggesting that Inter Milan have indeed made inquiries about De Zerbi. It is understood that De Zerbi has a release clause in his contract with OM, which could potentially ease a departure. Despite this, the Italian manager is said to require significant assurances regarding Inter`s strategy in the transfer market and is reportedly only willing to join if the squad is significantly rebuilt to align with his tactical vision.
The former Brighton manager addressed the speculation directly while attending a ceremony in Foggia, where he was made an Honorary Citizen (he managed the club from 2015-2016). When questioned by the Italian press about potential interest from Inter, De Zerbi stated, “I’m happy in Marseille and I haven’t received any calls from other clubs.” He also commented on his recent activities, adding, “I didn’t watch the Champions League final between Inter and PSG because I was with my daughter at the Vasco Rossi concert at the Olympic Stadium in Turin.”
