AC Milan is reportedly targeting Atalanta and Italy striker Mateo Retegui, as reported by Sky Sport Italia`s transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Rossoneri are preparing a squad overhaul under newly appointed coach Max Allegri, aiming to build a team that aligns with his tactical vision.
New attacking options are essential, as Luka Jovic is not expected to stay, and Tammy Abraham will return to Roma following his loan spell.
Milan sets sights on Retegui

Retegui, who recently celebrated his 26th birthday, was the standout top scorer in Serie A this season. He bagged an impressive 25 goals and contributed eight assists across 36 league appearances.
He is also the preferred centre-forward for the Italian national team, competing with Fiorentina`s Moise Kean for a starting place.

Atalanta acquired Retegui from Genoa in August 2024 for a fee of €20.9 million plus potential bonuses. This transfer was necessitated by an emergency situation after Gianluca Scamacca sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a pre-season friendly.
Consequently, securing Retegui would represent a significantly expensive and difficult transfer operation for Milan, especially considering their failure to qualify for European football, contrasting with Atalanta`s confirmed participation in the Champions League.
