Rennes Eyes Caci as Assignon Replacement

Stade Rennais are reportedly considering FSV Mainz`s Anthony Caci (27) as a potential successor for the full-back Lorenz Assignon, who is set to join VfB Stuttgart. According to information gathered, Rennes might encounter significant competition from several Premier League clubs for the player`s signature.

Assignon, who was the primary right-back last season, is currently in Germany undergoing a medical examination and finalizing the details of his transfer to Stuttgart. This move is expected to be officially confirmed very soon. In parallel, Rennes is actively working on securing a replacement and has reportedly focused on Mainz defender Anthony Caci, whose existing contract with the Bundesliga side is set to conclude at the end of the upcoming season.

Although Mainz hasn`t abandoned hopes of extending Caci`s contract, the defender, valued around €10 million, is attracting interest from numerous potential buyers. Alongside Rennes, clubs like Leeds United, Fulham, and Borussia Dortmund are also reportedly keen on the French player. The Breton club is also considering Kiliann Sildillia from Freiburg as a potential alternative option should their primary target prove unattainable.
