RC Lens Appoint Pierre Sage as New Manager

RC Lens has officially named Pierre Sage as their new head coach. He takes over from Will Still, who recently departed the club.

The managerial position at Lens had been vacant since the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season. Will Still`s announcement of his departure after just one year in charge came as a surprise. Still has since moved to Southampton.

Lens confirmed Sage`s appointment slightly more than two weeks after Still`s exit.

This role marks Sage`s first managerial post since he was dismissed by Lyon earlier this year. He was replaced at Lyon by Paulo Fonseca when their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League faded. Fonseca, despite a brief positive spell, did not manage to guide Lyon into the top four.

Other candidates, including Luís Castro from USL Dunkerque and Sylvain Ripoll of EA Guingamp, were reportedly considered for the position. However, Sage has now finalized his agreement with Lens. He has signed a contract valid until June 2028.
