Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is set to hold a celebratory parade on the iconic Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris the day after their potential victory in the Champions League final against Inter Milan on Saturday. Reports indicate that the Ligue 1 champions and city officials have reached a preliminary agreement for this event, scheduled for Sunday. Jeanne d’Hauteserre, Mayor of the 8th arrondissement of Paris, mentioned to AFP that local authorities initially hesitated to approve the parade, citing concerns from shopkeepers about potential disruptions.
It has been confirmed that, upon PSG`s request and with endorsement from the Elysée Palace (the French President`s official residence), a parade would proceed from the Champs-Élysées roundabout to the Arc de Triomphe if the team wins. Authorities have also announced that specific measures, including closing the Champs-Élysées to traffic, will be implemented starting Saturday at 7 PM.
Furthermore, Paris City Hall has decided that the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in PSG`s club colors (red and blue) for the duration of Saturday`s match and will sparkle every time PSG scores a goal.
