Inter Milan suffered a crushing 5-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025 Champions League Final held in Munich on Saturday. This heavy loss meant the Nerazzurri concluded the 2024-25 season without lifting any major trophies.
According to statistics provided by Opta, this 5-0 scoreline represents the largest goal margin ever recorded in a single-game final across the history of major European competitions. Opta highlighted this significant difference on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “In the history of Major European competitions, PSG-Inter is the single-game final with the highest goal margin between the two teams (five goals).”
PSG quickly took control of the match. Former Inter defender Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring just 12 minutes in, and Desiré Doué doubled their lead in the 20th minute.
The performance drew sharp criticism at halftime, with figures like former Serie A striker Paolo Di Canio describing Inter`s display as unacceptable and intolerable.
Unfortunately for Inter, the second half provided no turnaround. The Ligue 1 champions added three more goals, cementing what stands as Inter`s most significant defeat in a major European final.
Despite this setback, Inter is expected back in action shortly, participating in the Club World Cup as one of the representatives from Serie A.
