Pokémon Pokopia reminds us of an important lesson: other developers can – and should – take risks with the Pokémon IP

Esports

Despite having owned Pokémon Pokopia for under three days, I’ve already invested nearly 20 hours into its captivating world. This game is undeniably captivating! As is widely known across the internet, the title is rapidly gaining global traction. Whether it’s the ingenious ways players are leveraging its mechanics to construct astonishing superstructures, or the intriguing, somewhat unsettling post-apocalyptic atmosphere that permeates its setting, Game Freak and Omega Force have truly engineered something extraordinary.

Pokémon Pokopia masterfully combines the most engaging aspects of Animal Crossing, Viva Piñata, and Stardew Valley. It stands as a strong contender for being the first definitive console seller for the upcoming Switch 2. A well-deserved commendation to everyone involved in its development.
