Pierre Sage the Leading Candidate to Take Charge at Lens

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Pierre Sage has emerged as the top candidate for the vacant managerial position at RC Lens.

Lens have been searching for a new head coach since the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season. The previous manager, Will Still, surprised many with his decision to leave after only one year in charge, and he has since moved to Southampton.

It has been nearly two weeks since Still`s departure, and while Lens hasn`t officially announced their new manager yet, they are reportedly close to making an appointment as discussions with potential candidates progress. Foot Mercato understands that Sage, who has been without a club since departing Olympique Lyonnais earlier this year, is currently considered the frontrunner.

Nevertheless, other individuals remain in consideration, such as Yannick Cahuzac and Luís Castro. Castro, in particular, had an impressive season with USL Dunkerque, performing well in both Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France. He is also reportedly a target for FC Nantes, but the €2 million compensation fee requested by Dunkerque is proving to be a hurdle for both interested clubs.
