According to a report from Foot Mercato, Pierre Sage is now considered the frontrunner to take on the managerial role at RC Lens.
Lens has been without a coach since the end of the Ligue 1 season. Their previous manager, Will Still, surprisingly announced his departure after only one season at the helm and has since moved to Southampton.
While nearly two weeks have passed since Still`s exit without Lens naming his successor, the club is reportedly nearing an appointment as discussions with potential candidates continue. Foot Mercato indicates that Sage, who has been unattached since leaving Olympique Lyonnais earlier this year, is currently the leading option.
However, other possibilities remain on the table, including Yannick Cahuzac and Luís Castro. Castro, in particular, had a successful period with USL Dunkerque last season, performing well in both Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France. He is also a target for FC Nantes, but neither club appears willing to pay the €2 million compensation fee requested by Dunkerque.
