OGC Nice’s Sofiane Diop Sidelined Following Sports Hernia Surgery

Football News

OGC Nice midfielder Sofiane Diop, aged 25, has undergone surgery to address a sports hernia injury. The procedure is expected to keep the player out of action for potentially two months.

This news comes after the Moroccan forward had previously faced several injury setbacks in recent seasons. However, he successfully regained form during the latter part of the last campaign, concluding with a respectable tally of six goals and eight assists.

Regrettably, this current injury will significantly disrupt his preparation for the upcoming season. The surgery, reportedly approved by the club, means Diop will miss the commencement of pre-season training, which is already underway for the Nice squad. Furthermore, his estimated recovery period of six to eight weeks raises concerns about his availability for the crucial UEFA Champions League qualifying matches.

OGC Nice is scheduled to participate in the first leg of their Champions League third-round qualifier on August 5th or 6th, with the return fixture set for approximately one week later.
