OGC Nice has officially announced the signing of 19-year-old centre-back Juma Bah on a loan deal from Manchester City. The Riviera club successfully secured the Sierra Leone international`s signature, reportedly overcoming competition from Olympique Lyonnais. A significant factor in Bah choosing Nice is believed to be the opportunity to potentially play in the UEFA Champions League; Nice qualified for the third qualifying round after finishing fourth in Ligue 1 last season.
Bah is already familiar with French top-flight football, having spent the latter half of the previous season on loan at RC Lens. His move to Lens was part of the transfer agreement that saw centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov join Manchester City.
Nice were actively seeking defensive reinforcements. The club is preparing for the potential departure of long-serving captain Dante and is also dealing with serious knee injuries sustained by defenders Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Mohamed Abdelmonem. Juma Bah becomes the second player to join Nice this summer transfer window, following the earlier arrival of Gabin Bernardeau.
