RC Lens have officially completed the transfer of 20-year-old goalkeeper Robin Risser from RC Strasbourg Alsace. The France youth international has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the club.
This signing comes as Lens needed to reinforce their goalkeeping options, having seen two keepers depart during the current summer window. Hervé Koffi has joined SCO Angers on a loan agreement, while Mathew Ryan left following the expiration of his short-term deal. Ryan had initially arrived to cover for Brice Samba, who moved to Stade Rennais in January.
Risser`s arrival signifies a strategic move focused on the long term for Lens. The France U21 international made a strong impression last season while on loan with Red Star in Ligue 2, gaining valuable experience.
He has now formally linked up with Lens. The transfer fee is understood to be around €3 million, with potential add-ons totalling another €2 million. RC Strasbourg, under BlueCo ownership, have secured a 25% sell-on clause as part of the agreement for the young goalkeeper.
