Official | Pierre Sage appointed Lens manager

Football News

RC Lens have officially appointed Pierre Sage as their new head coach. He takes over from Will Still.

The club had been searching for a manager since the conclusion of the Ligue 1 season, following Will Still`s unexpected announcement of his departure after a single season. Still has since moved to Southampton. Lens announced Sage as Still`s replacement slightly more than two weeks after Still`s exit.

This marks Sage`s first managerial position since being dismissed by Lyon earlier this year. Lyon had replaced him with Paulo Fonseca as their hopes for Champions League qualification faded. Fonseca`s tenure saw a temporary improvement but ultimately failed to secure a top-four finish for Lyon.

Several names were linked with the vacancy, including Luís Castro of USL Dunkerque and Sylvain Ripoll of EA Guingamp. However, Sage has signed a contract with Lens that runs until 2028.
