ACF Fiorentina have officially completed the signing of Italy Under-21 international Jacopo Fazzini from Empoli. The transfer fee is reported to be around €10 million plus performance-related bonuses.
The agreement for the move was reached last week. Fazzini successfully passed his medical examination today and subsequently signed a five-year contract with the Florence-based club.
Significant Investment
The 22-year-old midfielder recently represented Italy in the European Under-21 Championship. His performances had attracted interest from various Serie A clubs this summer, including Torino and Bologna.
Despite competition, Fiorentina were successful in acquiring the creative midfielder.
Fazzini is a product of the Empoli youth academy and made his Serie A debut for the club at the age of 19.
In the most recent season, he featured in 22 matches across Serie A and the Coppa Italia, registering six goals and providing one assist.
Recurring muscular problems affected his playing time, and he was ultimately unable to prevent Empoli`s relegation to Serie B.
