Nantes Make Offer for South Korea International Hyun-seok Hong

French club FC Nantes has reportedly submitted an offer for South Korean international midfielder Hyun-seok Hong, aged 26. The information comes via Sky Sports Germany.

Hong, an attacking midfielder, is currently with Bundesliga side Mainz 05. He signed for Mainz in August 2024 for a reported fee of €4 million and his current contract runs until 2028. Since joining, he has made 24 appearances for the club. The value of Nantes` offer has not been disclosed in the report.

His career started in Germany with Unterhaching, followed by a spell in Austria at LASK. He then spent two years at Belgian club Gent before securing his move to the Bundesliga. However, he has reportedly found playing time limited since arriving at Mainz, a situation that has attracted interest from clubs like Nantes.

Hyun-seok Hong has earned 14 senior international caps for South Korea. He was also part of the South Korea U23 team that won the gold medal at the Asian Games, a triumph which notably granted him exemption from mandatory military service.
