Montpellier Holds Advanced Talks for Alexandre Mendy

Football News

Montpellier HSC is reportedly nearing an agreement to sign 31-year-old striker Alexandre Mendy from SM Caen.

Mendy is entering the final year of his contract with Caen and has frequently been mentioned in transfer speculation this summer, including strong links to England`s Championship club Watford. However, claims circulating about a potential €1 million offer from Watford are reportedly inaccurate.

Since arriving at Caen in October 2020, Mendy has become the club`s highest-ever goalscorer, achieving this milestone in October 2024. He has netted 76 times across 175 matches for the club. Originally from the OGC Nice youth system, Mendy`s career also includes stints at Strasbourg, Nîmes, Guingamp, Bordeaux, and Brest.

After finishing at the bottom of the 2024-25 Ligue 1 season with only 16 points, Montpellier is looking to strengthen. Mendy, known for his consistent goal-scoring record in Ligue 2, could prove to be a valuable signing as they aim for an immediate promotion back to the top division.
