AS Monaco is reportedly showing interest in Chelsea`s 25-year-old Serbian international goalkeeper, Djordje Petrovic.
Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro recently confirmed the club`s search for a new goalkeeper this summer. He stated that the club would “chase a new goalkeeper” and it would be up to the players to compete for the starting spot.
Petrovic spent the past season on loan at RC Strasbourg Alsace, a French club also under the BlueCo ownership umbrella. He became a crucial player for Strasbourg as they narrowly missed out on European qualification on the final day of the season.
Following the conclusion of the campaign, Petrovic is set to return to his parent club, Chelsea. However, he faces significant competition for the number one position. Chelsea currently has Robert Sánchez and Filip Jörgensen on their roster, neither of whom has consistently impressed in West London.
Liam Rosenior, Strasbourg`s head coach during Petrovic`s loan spell, had previously indicated a desire to potentially work with the goalkeeper again in the future. He expressed his enjoyment of working with him and hoped for future collaboration, ideally in the next season.
