Monaco consider Lyon’s Saël Kumbedi as Vanderson replacement

Football News

AS Monaco are anticipating the potential departure of defender Vanderson (24) during the upcoming summer transfer window. According to reports, they have identified Saël Kumbedi (20) of Olympique Lyonnais as a possible successor.

Having joined Monaco in January 2022, Vanderson has spent three-and-a-half years at the club, and a move away this summer appears likely. The Brazilian international is attracting interest from clubs in the Premier League and also from Barcelona. Monaco is reportedly open to sanctioning his transfer if a satisfactory offer is received.

However, Vanderson`s potential exit would create a vacancy at right-back. Although Wilfried Singo is a potential option in this role, he too could depart. Squad player Krépin Diatta has also occasionally featured in this position.

Consequently, the club is looking to recruit a right-back, and Lyon`s Kumbedi is considered a prime target. The 20-year-old defender, whose current contract with OL expires in 2027, made 14 appearances in Ligue 1 and four in the UEFA Europa League during the previous season.
