Saïmon Bouabré (19) faces an uncertain future at AS Monaco, currently in disagreement with his training club. With only a year left on his contract and reportedly hesitant to extend, Monaco prevented the French youth international from participating in this summer`s Euro U21 Championships. As the tournament fell outside the official FIFA calendar, clubs were within their rights to veto player participation.
However, Bouabré was allowed to compete in the Maurice-Revello tournament, which took place during a FIFA-approved window. Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro clarified why the player was not released for the Euro U21 competition.
Scuro: `Bouabré Didn`t Play at the Level We Expected`
Scuro stated: “He needs to prove he deserves anything from the club. The plan was for him to be here for pre-season.”
Scuro added: “We have no concerns regarding Christian (Mawissa) and Soungoutou (Magassa) [who were allowed to play in the Euro U21 Championships]. [Bouabré] must demonstrate his ability and show he can perform at the required level. He could have made better use of his playing time last season, and I told him this. He didn`t perform at the standard we anticipated. Being a Monaco player primarily depends on meeting the sporting requirements.”
It seems Saïmon Bouabré will need to convince AS Monaco if he wishes to remain with Les Monégasques and sign a new contract.
