Olympique de Marseille has reportedly received numerous inquiries for their captain, Leonardo Balerdi, from clubs across England, Spain, Germany, and Italy. However, the 26-year-old Argentine defender is considered completely off-limits, with Marseille having no desire to sell him, a position that clubs like Juventus and Roma have reportedly discovered.
Balerdi has become a cornerstone of the squad since Roberto De Zerbi took charge at the beginning of last summer. One of the manager`s first significant decisions was to transfer the captain`s armband from Valentin Rongier to the centre-back. The defender has fully embraced this responsibility and effectively serves as De Zerbi`s voice and leader on the pitch.
Sources suggest that even a substantial offer of €40 million would not be sufficient to sway the club`s decision. This stance is particularly firm as Marseille needs to strengthen its squad this summer. They are reportedly searching for two experienced centre-backs as they prepare for their upcoming return to the UEFA Champions League.
