Marseille to Host Sevilla and Aston Villa Friendlies at Vélodrome

Football News

Olympique de Marseille have announced they will host two significant pre-season friendly matches at the Orange Vélodrome in August. They are set to face Spanish side Sevilla FC and English club Aston Villa FC as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

These high-profile fixtures provide valuable tests against European opposition as Les Phocéens gear up for their return to the UEFA Champions League in the 2025-2026 season. The friendlies will take place before OM begins their Ligue 1 season with an away trip to Stade Rennais.

The first match is scheduled for Saturday, August 2nd, kicking off at 20:00 CET, against Sevilla. The Spanish club holds the distinction of being record seven-time winners of the UEFA Europa League. A week later, on Saturday, August 9th, at 19:00 CET, Marseille will welcome Premier League side Aston Villa to the Vélodrome. Playing against a top English team like Aston Villa offers a potential preview of the caliber of opponents they might encounter in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Marseille`s summer preparations will also include earlier away matches. They are scheduled to travel to Andorra to face Girona and also take on another Spanish La Liga side, Valencia, prior to these home fixtures.
