According to reports from L`Équipe, Olympique de Marseille is preparing to finalise the signing of midfielder Angel Gomes (24) on a free transfer from Lille next week. The Ligue 1 side has reportedly agreed a three-year contract with the England international.
Marseille has reportedly been interested in Gomes since the winter transfer window. As his contract with Lille is set to expire, the midfielder was free to discuss potential moves with other clubs. OM is now set to beat competition from Premier League sides to secure the 24-year-old`s signature.
Several English clubs, including West Ham United, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur, were linked with the player. However, the former Manchester United academy graduate has reportedly decided that a move to Marseille, particularly to work under coach Roberto De Zerbi, would be the most beneficial step for his career. Gomes is expected to complete his medical examination next week.
