Olympique de Marseille is reportedly nearing an agreement to sign English international Angel Gomes (24), who is set to become a free agent this summer.
Gomes` contract with Lille OSC is expiring, and he has already confirmed his departure from the club, along with fellow key player Jonathan David.
The former Manchester United player had garnered considerable interest from Premier League clubs. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United were reportedly among those keen on signing Gomes. However, his preference appears to be a move to Marseille, with whom he is said to have reached an agreement in principle for a three-year deal.
The midfielder is reportedly attracted by the footballing philosophy new coach Roberto De Zerbi is expected to bring to the Vélodrome. Furthermore, Marseille`s qualification for the upcoming UEFA Champions League season is understood to have been a significant factor in convincing the player to make the switch.
