Marseille Interested in Chelsea’s Renato Veiga

Football News

Olympique de Marseille are reportedly targeting Chelsea`s 21-year-old defender Renato Veiga as they seek to strengthen their central defence this summer, according to reports from Le Parisien. They have reportedly made an initial enquiry.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi is keen to bolster the squad`s defence, with a growing list of potential targets including Aymeric Laporte, Facundo Medina, and Wesley Fofana also mentioned. Despite finishing second in Ligue 1, defensive vulnerabilities were apparent for OM last season. Strengthening the backline is a priority for sporting director Medhi Benatia as the club prepares for next season`s UEFA Champions League.

Veiga has previously been linked with a move to the Vélodrome in January. The young Portuguese defender spent the latter half of the recent season on loan at Juventus, but his long-term future at Chelsea remains uncertain. Marseille has now contacted Chelsea to ascertain the player`s availability for a potential transfer this summer.
