Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford landed in Barcelona on Sunday, signaling the imminent completion of his loan move to the Catalan club.
Reports from ESPN indicate that the 27-year-old is scheduled for a medical examination this week, with an official presentation as a Barça player potentially occurring before their pre-season tour of Asia begins.
The loan agreement reportedly includes a purchase option for Barcelona, valued at approximately €30 million, which could be activated next summer.
Barcelona has actively sought a left winger throughout the current transfer window. Their previous attempts to secure Nico Williams proved unsuccessful after the 23-year-old winger opted to extend his contract with Athletic Club.
The La Liga giants also pursued Luis Diaz, but Liverpool firmly rejected their advances, stating that the Colombian international is not available for transfer during this window.
Despite these setbacks, Barcelona is now poised to finalize a loan deal for Rashford, an attacker who has openly voiced his ambition to play for the club.
The England international has reportedly consented to a substantial wage reduction to pave the way for his transfer to Catalonia.
Rashford’s standing with manager Ruben Amorim declined late last year, leading to a loan spell at Aston Villa for the latter half of the previous season.
During his time at Villa, the forward displayed flashes of his talent, contributing to 10 goals in 17 matches.
However, the Midlands club ultimately decided against making the transfer permanent, reportedly due to his high salary expectations.
Barcelona has already secured two new players this summer: Joan Garcia from Espanyol and Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen.
Hansi Flick’s squad enjoyed a stellar 2024-25 season, clinching the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España.
