Manchester City have reportedly initiated discussions regarding a potential transfer for Olympique Lyonnais attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki, who is 21 years old. This information comes via a report from journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Cherki recently earned his first call-up to the French national squad and has publicly declared his intention to depart Lyon, his boyhood club, this summer. Following a standout season for his team, where he netted 12 goals and provided a notable 20 assists (with eight coming in the Europa League), he has garnered considerable attention from clubs across Europe, particularly those in the Premier League.
Premier League rivals Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the French midfielder. Nevertheless, it appears Manchester City`s interest is the most developed. According to Romano, City has made contact to commence initial negotiations. Romano reports that Cherki is considered a primary target for the Cityzens as they seek to add a new attacking midfielder (a `No.10`) to their squad this summer. Cherki is reportedly already informed of Manchester City`s interest.
