According to journalist Loïc Tanzi of L`Équipe, Rayan Cherki (21) has officially signed his contract, finalizing his transfer from his formative club, Olympique Lyonnais, to Manchester City.
L`Équipe reports that the French international`s move to the Etihad Stadium is valued at over €40 million. This transfer to Manchester, away from Lyon where he has spent his entire career, takes place ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. With the deal expected to be completed before Tuesday`s deadline, he is anticipated to participate in the tournament and will soon travel to the US with his new teammates.
On Monday, L`Équipe also stated that Cherki is set to sign a five-year deal with Manchester City, who successfully secured his signature despite facing strong competition from other clubs. L`Équipe specifically mentioned that Liverpool manager Arne Slot had contacted Cherki in an attempt to persuade the OL attacker to join Anfield. Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur were also reportedly linked with a move for the player.
